The most common question we receive is “How much is this going to cost?” For many patients, house calls will not cost any more than the traditional co-pay. Many insurance companies, including Medicare, will pay for the doctor to come and see you.

The cost of getting a house call is probably a lot less than you think. Here are some guidelines based on various insurance plans:

Medicare: House calls are covered in the same manner as a visit to your office-based doctor. If you normally pay $0 out of pocket to see your office-based doctor, you will pay $0 out of pocket for a house call. Also, just like when you visit your office-based doctor, your annual deductible must be met before your Medicare insurance covers the expense.

For most people who have Medicare and a Medigap supplement plan, the out-of-pocket cost for the patient is $0 after any deductible is met.
